Did you know that on November 14, the moon will be the closest to Earth since 1948? Basically this means the moon will be at its brightest and biggest in nearly 70 years. According to Nasa, a Supermoon occurs when the sun, moon and Earth line up, causing the moon to appear up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than the average full moon. So, lets ride in Paarl Mountain to view this spectacle! Weather permitting ofcourse. Moonrise is timed for 19h25. Ride up Paarl Mountain, Tower and outside loop to Waboom Kop. We've done a deal with ASG for PaarlMTB riders to get an exclusive discount of 20% on an entry for next month’s Sanlam MTB Invitational, which takes place on the Paarl Mountain from Rhebokskloof on 19 and 20 November. Sounds like they're doing some really special stuff route wise on the mountain and that the race pack and vibe at Rheboks is going to be top notch. To secure the 20% discount go to the event site to enter – – and at checkout during the on-line entry process there will be a spot where you can enter a voucher code. Get your Voucher code when you login at Enter the voucher code and the discount will pull through on the entry. It’s a R1 000 discount – really nice. If you consider that a pair of Rudy Project glasses (R3 000 retail) forms part of the entry (along with some other lekker stuff) and you get breakfast and lunch daily on the Saturday and Sunday, it’s a good deal. Entries close on Thursday, 27 October or as soon as they reach 150 teams. 120 teams have entered thus far.

If you are contemplating joining this ride, join it so you can get posted with last minute updates. Johan Kriegler and Co have asked if any PaarlMTB riders are able to assist with some trail marking at Rheboksloof on Saturday. They have earmarked some single track with switchback sections on the terraces around the property, of approximately 20km's. I will be there and we need another 2 volunteers. Ons wil so teen 15h00 terug wees. Indien ons dit nie alles klaar kry nie dan spandeer ons nog ‘n Saterdag, in die toekoms. Bring snoeisker en skerp saagies saam – ek bring candy tape vir merk – geen fietse – ook reenklere."

RED STONE MOUNTAIN BIKE AND TRAIL RUN WEEK-END 11&12 MAY 2012The route features some breathtaking scenery and visits to different areas of this beautiful valley. We have opted for an easier ride, without the technical and challenging sections of previous years. The route starts out on farm roads towards the majestic Swartberg mountains, traversing it’s foothills in an easterly direction with a loop back towards Lategansvlei. From here we enter some of the most scenic jeep track around, and an easy ride takes riders towards Buffelskloof and a loop around the famous Red Stone Hills ends a magic day in the saddle. The focus is now on the scenery and the enjoyment of the best The Klein Karoo can offer! Entries online @ Dryland

The event is unique in that it offers mountain bikers the most single track riding, with enough passing sections, out of all events on the S.A MTB calendar. Riders can look forward to some tough climbs, thrilling down hills and awesome views. This is one of the very few true mountain bike events around and should be ridden by all who love mountain biking. If you have entered, click here for the last race notice. Rhebokskloof MTB Challenge - Mountain bikers can look forward to a unique opportunity to ride trails never before ridden on Paarl Mountain at the Rhebokskloof MTB Challenge on 13 October 2007. The start and finish of the race will take place at Rhebokskloof Wine Estate. There will be two distances to choose from - 30km and 45km. Both these rides follow the same challenging route until the 14km mark where the routes split. This will also be a festive waterpoint for all riders with braais and other much needed refreshments readily available. The longer route will also push the more advanced riders to their limits with technical climbs, descents and single track. For the kids there will be a jungle gym, jumping castles and green lawns to play on. The restaurant and wine cellar at Rhebokskloof Estate will also be open on the day of the event to keep supporters and race finishers entertained. Sportstrack will be showcasing their technology on a big screen and you will be able to track riders during the race. Should be quite interesting to watch the front runners battle it out! Die roete sal +- 45 - 50km wees oor groot varierende terrein (sand , kliperigheid, waterkruisings ens.) ,tweespoorpad, voetpad ens.
